A social cohesion policy is being implemented in the Nice Côte d’Azur area with all institutional and private partners committed to quality living together and developing a sense of citizenship.
Mosaics crafted by more than 200 neighborhood residents, aged 2 to 78, who diligently created mermaids, butterflies, rainbows, dancers, football players… so many reflections of their daily life, environment, and dreams.
Carried out as part of the national City, Life, Holidays program, this project was led by the associations Mosaïcités and ARBRE through street workshops open to residents and offered during school holidays since February 2010. It was completed last July.
By beautifying the living environment in a participatory manner, this initiative also aims to instill notions of respect for public and communal spaces, citizenship, involve young people from the neighborhood to fight against acts of incivility and vandalism, create social bonds by bringing together residents and people in difficulty who break their isolation, encourage intergenerational exchanges, and introduce participants to a creative and rewarding artistic activity. A simple and concrete action for a mosaic of reasons!
