Inauguration of the new Villa “La Luna”

Latest News

In ruins for more than twenty years, the residence of a Kuwaiti owner who left it abandoned, La Luna is getting a facelift. It took the City Hall of Nice nine years to reclaim this Belle ร‰poque residence.

“For nearly twenty years, it was abandoned by its owners, degraded, squatted, vandalized several times, subject to numerous complaints and grievances from the neighborhood residents. Today, we are giving it back to the people of Nice!”

Christian Estrosi inaugurated the brand-new Villa La Luna yesterday morning, now the House of Associations, House of Seniors, and Animanice Center of the City of Nice.

An elegant early 20th-century building located at 265 Promenade des Anglais, Villa La Luna is an important testament to the seaside villas. Today revitalized, this Belle ร‰poque residence, formerly owned by a Kuwaiti, had long been considered “an eyesore on the Promenade des Anglais.”

Left abandoned, this emblematic site of Nice’s heritage was subjected to a foreclosure procedure in 2012. The City Hall, upon reclaiming the property, invested nearly 2.5 million euros. Here it is now inaugurated! Radiant, La Luna is now a space for associations (Senior Direction and Animanice).

“Villa Luna is part of the solidarity dynamic we want with our seniors. Our seniors will benefit from new activities and more free access to culture, sports, and travels in 2019!” declared C. Estrosi.
