The inauguration of the first tram line in Nice Côte d’Azur will take place at Place Masséna. It is at this iconic location in the city of Nice, halfway along the 8.7 km of line 1, in the heart of the Nice Côte d’Azur urban area, that the official ceremony will be held, after which the tram will be opened to the public.
To celebrate this event, activities and street performances will take place all day at Place Masséna and along the tram route, with free access for all until Sunday evening!
Starting at 10 AM: Entertainment at Place Masséna by folk groups and preparations for the arrival of the inaugural tram.
11:15 AM: Arrival of the inaugural tram – entering Place Masséna (from Avenue Jean Médecin). It will move to the fountain accompanied by theatrical effects. Officials and personalities present in the tram will disembark and ascend to the official podium.
11:30 AM: Official ceremony and speeches.
12:15 PM: Opening of the buffets located on either side of Place Masséna to the public – reopening of pedestrian passage points in the square.
12:30 PM: Officials and accompanying personalities walk back up Place Masséna towards Avenue Jean Médecin on foot. Several trams will be stationed on Avenue Jean Médecin to take the officials to Las Planas (Nice Nord).
2 PM: Opening of the tram to the public with free access, initiation of normal service on the line. The beginning of activities along the entire route. The tram will remain free throughout the weekend.
Activities will take place in the afternoon along the tram route, near various stations to maintain the festive atmosphere created for the arrival of the inaugural tram.
