Saturday, June 25, 2011, at 6 p.m. at the Vieux-logis Priory, 59 Saint-Barthélémy Avenue
Ø Winner of the 2010 Environment Awards organized by the city of Nice, the Colline Saint-Barthélemy Priory association aimed to recreate the rose garden of the Vieux Logis Museum Priory, at its original location, while focusing on ancient species recognized for their fragrance, such as the Madame Hardy rose (1856), the Queen Bourbon rose (1834), and the Kazanlick rose (1689). This revitalization of a public space thus contributes to the role of a “green lung” for the Saint-Barthélemy hill.
Ø In an effort to protect plant heritage and enhance biodiversity in our region, the association also aimed to introduce six endangered plant species from the Alpes-Maritimes into these gardens: the crowned anemone, the royal fern, the Spanish catchfly, Bertoloni’s columbine, the hart’s-tongue fern, and the burning bush.
Ø Finally, to complete this educational garden for everyone, a composter has been installed, open to all local residents wishing to contribute to its ecological maintenance, thereby promoting good practices and the use of recycling.
