Lenval Beach – a symbolic site as it is located opposite the children’s hospital – has been chosen to become the second non-smoking designated beach. The Nice coastline now boasts two ideally situated beaches: one in the city center and the other to the west of Nice.
The City of Nice has aimed to make public health a strong part of its political commitment, particularly in the fight against cancer through the implementation of the “Cancer Plan” and strong actions in prevention, screening, and care.
As part of the “Nice, Smoke-Free City” project, the intention was expressed as early as 2012 to reserve a beach for non-smokers.
Thanks to a partnership agreement between the City of Nice and the National League Against Cancer, Centenary Beach thus became the first beach in France designated as a “Smoke-Free Beach®”.
