Installation of the Second Children’s Municipal Council of Nice

Latest News

The new Children’s Municipal Council will be held tomorrow, Thursday, February 17 at 3 p.m. at the City Hall, fostering dialogue between the city’s leaders and its young population, and helping turn today’s schoolchildren into tomorrow’s citizens.

The mandate of the elected members of the first municipal council ended in June 2010. The new 68 councilors and their deputies were elected during the elections of late 2010/January 2011 by their peers from the CE2, CM1, and CM2 classes in both public and private elementary schools in Nice for a term of two years.

They will meet twice a year in plenary sessions to develop projects in favor of the city and thus aim to improve everyone’s life.

A First Ceremonial Plenary Session

The first session will be marked by a ceremonial event that will officially recognize the role of councilors and deputies as representatives of all Nice schoolchildren. Furthermore, the council’s charter will be adopted.

During the first plenary session, the creation of four commissions will be voted on: environment, security, health, and leisure.
