The artists who have been involved with the construction fences at Anis, Pléiade & Odyssée: Brian CADDY, FABEN, François NASICA, OTOM, and WOLF.

At the end of April, Nasica, Brian Caddy, and Faben took over the corner of Cour Robini. Otom and Wolf will add their final touches to the fence installed along Avenue Simone Veil this Tuesday afternoon.

Otom: has been passionate about the world of comics from a young age and developed a talent for drawing early on. His first graphic revelation took place through Franquin. Introduced to the art of comics, he expanded his cultural reach to the world of manga (Miyasaki…) and has a particular affection for the cyberpunk and steampunk genres (Akira/Ghost in the Shell/Gunnm…). Disney images, pop culture, the science fiction universe, and works by masters like Munch, Musha, Ernest Pignon Ernest, Basquiat, Keith Haring, and Arman are also references that enrich the artist’s work. His visits to skateparks led him to discover his first graffiti murals. This cultural shock naturally guided him toward studies in graphic design. Themes such as the relationship between man and nature, progress and technology, as well as the cycle of life from birth to death, are explored by the artist, always driven by a desire to play on the strong contrast between technical drawing and graffiti.

Wolf: is a self-taught artist from the PACA region, who could hold a pencil before he could walk. Originally from Bochum (Germany), he spent a year in the studio of Chinese artist Ho-Lui in Antibes in 1998 to learn the basics of drawing. Today, he reveals his overflowing and sometimes whimsical creativity through this medium, as well as via city walls, canvases of all sizes, and digital facades. He skillfully uses graphite, ballpoint pens, ink pens, brushes, Poscas, and color sprays to constantly experiment with new tools.

Brian Caddy: very inspired by soul, jazz, and funk music culture, as well as colors and shapes from the 80s-90s hip hop culture, his work is situated between art and design. He explores various techniques such as aerosol, acrylic, photography, and video, and has created several murals in Nice, notably for the tramway project. For his performance, Brian Caddy decided to pay homage to Jean Nouvel, who designed the Pléiade & Odyssée buildings. He created anamorphoses and used colors dear to the architect: gray, black, red, ochre, and green. He blends drawings, anamorphoses, and recalls the relationship to nature of his buildings.

Faben is a multimedia artist (paintings, sculptures, digital art), emerging from the graffiti and street art scene. A calligrapher, he also created a character, Mr. Lover, ambassador of spontaneous and magical love. He recently completed a monumental 135-meter mural in Antibes. Through his work titled “Love Eco-Valley,” Faben offers his interpretation of the eco-valley. It reveals nature, a dynamic future, and a renewal for the city and its residents. For Faben, the under-construction building by Jean Nouvel in front of which he intervened aligns with the environment, “it brings fresh and positive air.” The mural features the character “Mr. Lover” who clings to a central idea “Art Reality is the sweet dream of yesterday’s fiction.” The artist has also inserted a message of peace and love into it.

François Nasica: this artist from Nice first became passionate about primitive and parietal art before turning to a new form of painting: performance. Between 1992 and 1996, he completed around fifty performances with the Association of Free Artists of October 26th. He has created several fences for the Nice tramway construction and is one of the artists invited by the city to paint one of the flea market panels. In 2016, he deployed a giant 150 m² artwork on the façade of the Venice Palace in Nice. In Nice Méridia, François Nasica named his performance “Going is going towards the other,” expressing the importance and necessity of uniting rather than dividing. What attracted him to the EPA’s artistic intervention proposal is the ecological and social dimension of the neighborhood.

Otom: his art is inspired by comics, cyberpunk, and BMX. He navigates between vivid colors and black and white work, between the meticulousness of his drawings and the looser style of graffiti, between the softness of his portraits and the pugnacity of street art. His work offers a wide range of contrasts. He paints on the walls of Rome, Lisbon, and Nice.
