“My Lebanon of Azure” celebrates its first year of existence this August. Géraldine Ghostine, a young Franco-Lebanese woman, is the founder of this unique association. On this occasion, she gives a brief presentation of her major project.
Where did the idea to create this association come from?
Géraldine Ghostine: Last year, I wanted to organize a cultural forum. But when I looked for Lebanese associations in Nice, I couldn’t find any. So, I decided to embark on this project. Today, we are a team of 12, and we have over a hundred members between France and Lebanon.
How can one join the association?
You need to visit our website. We operate with the company Hello Asso. You will find two forms: one for individuals and one for businesses.
What is the goal of the association?
The main goal is to create a bridge between Lebanon and France, enabling Lebanese artists to “break out” of Lebanon. We aim to promote art, gastronomy, culture, youth, education, vineyards… We also try to target and respond to real needs, whether in Lebanon or for Lebanese living in France.
What are your concrete actions?
For example, we have established a partnership with artists in Lebanon, with the main office located in Aix-en-Provence. The aim is to promote emerging artists. In December, we also organized a medicine collection to help Lebanon during the inflation. We conduct charitable actions with two Lebanese NGOs, CHANCE (CHildren AgaiNst CancEr). The association manages a large number of events.
Have you planned any gatherings for the coming months?
Of course! On the 20th, we are organizing a grand soirée at the Régis Frères estate. There will first be the unveiling of a Lebanese sculptor’s works, followed by a lecture on impressionism, a tasting of Lebanese wines, and finally, a meal. The artist, Patricia Tohmé, secured a residency at the estate for a month. Another important moment, in September we are organizing the week of the centenary of Greater Lebanon, partnering with various Lebanese restaurants on the Côte d’Azur.
