Nie Premium: Why are you running in the 6th district?
MC: I am particularly drawn to the opportunity of this election because I was born in this district, spent all my youth here, was a student at Ecole Fuon Cauda, and it now holds a special place in my heart to defend its interests and developments that I wish to propose, and of course, broadly for the city of Nice.

NP: You are the candidate for the INDEPENDENT ECOLOGIST ALLIANCE in this election. How do you approach this candidacy?
MC: After my political journey leading the ARCA Association (Yes to a new region), and then the departmental presidency of the CNI, I met men and women defending a sensible and useful ecology, allowing grassroots work alongside regionalist associations and defenders of local values, which seemed to me to bring together the values of ethics, realism, respect, and responsibility.

NP: How do you define the 6th district of Nice?
MC: It is a district composed of three quite different neighborhoods. Malaussena-Borriglione represents an old Nice tradition associated with significant commercial activity, the Cimiez neighborhood which should be considered the most residential in Nice, and a popular area composed of hardworking men and women perfectly integrated into the social fabric of the city.

NP: Your running mate, Willa MARCOFF, does not have a traditional political background. How did you meet?
MC: I met Willa during the last municipal campaign of Jacques Peyrat where she was a running mate, and I was able to appreciate her dynamism, having discovered her experience as an elected official and responsible for Youth, social actions, and furthermore as a Flag Bearer during commemorations. Willa perfectly matched my idea of what a deputy for serving the people of Nice should be.

NP: What makes you different from the other candidates?
MC: I believe I am the only candidate native to the district, imbued with its way of life, the relationships among its residents, and able to combine, thanks to the INDEPENDENT ECOLOGIST ALLIANCE, both the proposed obligations for tomorrow’s world on the Environment, and the defense and respect for our city’s traditions with the support of the League for the Restoration of Nice’s Freedoms chaired by Alain ROULLIER, and the ARCA Association (Yes to a new region) of which I am the founding president.

NP: What do you think of the other candidates?
MC: Regarding the other candidates, I reject the idea for any political party to impose a candidate who is not from the City and local Traditions for partisan reasons. The candidate from the City Hall, without affecting his personality, does not seem to me to correspond to what the residents of the district expect. As for the other candidates, from the Socialist Party, Modem, Green (to be verified), they all belong to parties positioned between socialism and communism to which I do not subscribe, as do the majority of people from Nice.

NP: What are the main points of your program for the partial cantonal elections of the 6th district of Nice on September 6, 2009?
MC: I would like in the 6th district, as in the rest of the city, for the population to be more often consulted on major decisions affecting the future of the city. Certainly, improving security by redeploying police presence, especially at night. Finally, among other measures for the district, some must be taken: for example, relocating the prison to free up space for leisure activities and housing, developing the banks of the Paillon in respect of Nature and the Environment (green spaces, leisure activities, aquatic basin), submitting the projects related to the southern station to a public referendum.
