Investiture Ceremony in Carros: Charles Scibetta dons the tricolor sash

Latest News

Emerging victorious from a difficult four-way race, Charles Scibetta is the new mayor of Carros. Long involved in politics, he was formerly right-hand man and then adversary to Antoine Damiani, the town’s chief magistrate for three terms. He has finally been able to take the seat of mayor.

scibetta_maire.jpg The symbolic handover of the tricolor sash took place this Saturday, on a spring day, in the presence of a large crowd of citizens.

Once the vote for the deputies was completed, Charles Scibetta, surrounded by his family (how lovely it was to see his mother present!) and his supporters, wanted to address the public and extensively discussed the program that will form the main axis of his term and the priorities of his action.

The electoral result being uncertain until the end and the victory only a narrow one, the new mayor offered those defeated the opportunity to participate in municipal life beyond their institutional role as a minority opposition.

This appeal was heard by UMP candidate Estelle Borne, who accepted a delegation, while Charles Scibetta’s main rival, Christine Charles, former first deputy and endorsed by the outgoing mayor, declared in a very elegant manner her intent to be a… moderate opponent.

It remains to be seen what relationship Charles Scibetta will maintain with the metropolis. Claiming his freedom and independence, having been elected without political affiliation and without the support of any party, this teacher at the Lycée du Parc Impérial, who will retire at the end of the school year to better fulfill his role as mayor, intends to primarily assert the interests of his community, which, beyond the number of inhabitants, also includes the “industrial” area of the Var plain, thus giving it a considerable advantage in balancing the interests and power of the Metropolis.

For the record, Charles Scibetta has a rather left-wing inclination. This fact places him in the unique position of being a “free” elected official in one of the largest cities in the Metropolis, which is entirely right-oriented.
