Ironman of Nice: When Professionals and Amateurs Meet

Latest News

Nice will be bustling with its Ironman, one of the most famous triathlon races in the world. Once again this year, participants are flocking to be part of this race of titans. Like last year, the Irongirl is on the program for running enthusiasts.

This Sunday, the triathlon world has a meeting in Nice. The roughly 2,500 participants will start at dawn on Sunday morning (6:30 am). They will begin with the swimming event, which spans 3.8 km.

Upon exiting the Mediterranean Sea, the triathletes will mount their bikes to cover 180 km through the Nice hinterland. To conclude this true test of strength, the heroes of this weekend will finish with a marathon (four loops on the Promenade des Anglais).

99% amateurs at the start

While the Nice Ironman has a reputation that speaks for itself, out of the 2,500 participants, “only” 36 professionals (both women and men) are registered on the start list.

Before being a high-level sports competition, the Ironman is a true celebration. Even though they are competing, Ironman participants share a common goal: to reach the end of the race. There is more a spirit of camaraderie than rivalry.

Irongirl in the spotlight

For the second consecutive year, the organizers have again arranged an Irongirl. This race is reserved for women. The participants will start on the Promenade at 9 am and will run a 5 km race.

This race is organized for a good cause. 20% of the funds will be donated to the INDIGO association. Any female (aged 15 and up) can join this race aimed at enjoyment and leisure.
