The IRONMAN event in Nice begins this Sunday on the azure beach. Participants will undertake 3.8 km of swimming, 180 km of cycling, and a marathon, which is 42.195 km of running. Stéphane Ravera, a 44-year-old from Nice, feels ready to tackle the challenges. He will be taking part in his fourth IRONMAN.

ironman2.jpg After 2007, 2008, and 2010, Stéphane Ravera will participate this Sunday in the only IRONMAN category triathlon in France.

This great athlete, a former member of the French rowing team, feels mentally ready: “I have no worries. Psychologically, I am well-prepared, I am used to this kind of event.”

As a green space instructor in an Establishment and Service for Work Assistance, where he supervises workers in difficulty, he will fight alone on Sunday, while the weather conditions promise to be challenging. A temperature of around thirty degrees is expected.

But for the native of Nice, he promises to adapt: “No matter the conditions, I train every day in all weathers.”

His sports season is divided. From October to June, he focuses on the triathlon, and for the remaining months, he works on rowing, his favorite sport.

Goal, under the 11H mark

Mentally strong and physically prepared, Stéphane Ravera is filled with ambitions. Each year the goal is to improve the timing. A sign that he is doing well for a man over forty.

With a time of 11 hours and 23 minutes in 2010, he finished 547th, 3 hours behind the Spanish titleholder Marcel Zamora-Perez.

This year, he hopes to go below the 11-hour mark and thus rank among the top 400.

Let’s wish Stéphane luck and join him at the start on Sunday at 6:30 am for the early birds on Centenaire beach.
