Is a second wave likely after the lifting of the lockdown?

Latest News

The Pasteur Institute published a report yesterday on the spread of the coronavirus in France.

What do we learn from it? That the lockdown had “a massive impact,” significantly slowing down the spread of Covid-19 across the country.

In clear terms: the infection rate is estimated to have dropped from 3.3 in March to 0.5 currently, and there should be “only” 1,300 new cases daily at the start of the easing of lockdown measures on May 11, compared to several hundred thousand just before the lockdown. So, it worked!

According to the same study, barely 6% of the population will have been infected by the virus by May 11.

Conclusion from the Pasteur Institute: “Without a vaccine, herd immunity alone will be insufficient to prevent a second wave” (post lockdown).
