The first snowfalls of the 2026-2027 season have covered the peaks of the Southern Alps. In the Alpes-Maritimes, the Isola 2000 resort recorded nearly 30 centimeters of fresh snow in just a few hours. A pictorial review of these first winter precipitations.
The drop in temperatures observed this week favored the return of snow to French mountain ranges. After the first snowfalls in the Pyrenees, the Alps were also affected, particularly in their southern part.
At Isola 2000, snowflakes covered the slopes and landscapes of the resort. According to the Météo Côte d’Azur Instagram account, 27 centimeters of fresh snow were recorded Thursday evening at 11 p.m., at an altitude of 1,912 meters. Images that provide a first glimpse of winter conditions at the Mercantour resort. Last year snow fell at the same time in the Alps resorts.

Isola 2000 will open its slopes on December 5
These snowfalls occur one month before the start of the alpine ski season, scheduled for Saturday, December 5, 2026. The closure is planned for Sunday, April 18, 2027.
Located three kilometers from the Italian border and less than two hours’ drive from Nice, Isola 2000 particularly benefits from easterly return episodes related to its proximity to the Gulf of Genoa.
For winter 2026-2027, the adult day pass (26-61 years) is offered at the price of 44 euros.
