“It’s not classical”: the must-attend musical event of the department

On Thursday, November 8, 2012, at 4 PM, Mr. Eric Ciotti, Deputy and President of the General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes, will present the 8th edition of “Cโ€™est pas Classique,” in the presence of Mr. Christian Estrosi, Deputy Mayor of Nice, President of the Nice Cรดte dโ€™Azur Metropolis, and Doctor Alain Frรจre, Vice President of the General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes, Mayor of Tourrette-Levens.

With over 100 free shows and 60,000 spectators in 2011, “Cโ€™est pas Classique” has become a cult event, known for its originality and unifying, popular spirit. Initiated to foster an appreciation for classical music among all, even the youngest, this festival, where all performances are free, allows thousands of visitors to discover or rediscover the full breadth of this musical genre, superbly highlighted by renowned artists and ensembles from the Alpes-Maritimes and around the world.

Thanks to the free access and quality accessible to everyone, “culture for all” is one of the spearheads of the cultural policy of the General Council and the city of Nice.

Thus, through this musical event, the Department pursues three main objectives:

– Enable residents of the territory to access all forms of artistic expression,
– Support artists living and working in the department,
– Develop a cultural economy that generates jobs in connection with cultural tourism.
