The Prom Classic will ultimately not take place this Sunday, January 9 as planned. The decision was made this Wednesday evening. The reason is currently always the same: the negative development of the health crisis in recent days, notably due to the Omicron variant.

The Prom’Classic, a race that normally brings together some 10,000 runners on the Promenade des Anglais.

For several days, and due to the spread of the Omicron variant, doubts remained.

Azur Sport Organisation, the event organizer, in agreement with the city of Nice, has aligned with the opinion of the Regional Health Agency and the Prefecture of Alpes-Maritimes and has made the decision to postpone the Prom’Classic to a later date as soon as health conditions allow.

The mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, stated in a press release: “there will indeed be many disappointed on Sunday. But it is just a postponement, and I hope we will be able to announce good news as soon as possible.”
