Jacques Peyrat inaugurated his campaign headquarters in the presence of a good hundred of his loyal supporters and his ally Jean Icart, with whom the former mayor of Nice will form a joint list.
Rather in good shape and combative, Jacques Peyrat expressed his usual repertoire: the French publicโs crisis of confidence in the government, the economic crisis and its impact on employment, security problems, excessive and poorly managed immigration. Final result: A France in decline and a loss of its identity.
The same issues, according to him, are found in Nice, where the population will have to face the financial crisis of the municipality, which, despite the denials of Christian Estrosi (renamed on the occasion as the “tyrant”), indeed exists and will be worsened by the cost of the underground works for tram line 2, which Jacques Peyrat considers a gigantic mistake, reminding his successor of the more than 8 kilometers constructed under his management against barely 350 meters during the current mayor’s term.
Controversies aside, which the electoral debate will help clarify, this campaign start also served to qualify the Peyrat-Icart or Icart-Peyrat list as a “Gathering of forces neither left nor right” and open to other contributions. A clear call that Jacques Peyrat wanted to publicly address to Benoรฎt Kandel, Olivier Bettati, and other Marc Concas, but leaves us rather doubtful about its outcome.
More likely, however, is the support of Philippe Vardon and Nissa Rebela, who, after the refusal of Christine Arnautu and the FN, must decide whether to try their luck alone or join the Peyrat-Icart list.
Will this aggregate offer a coherent image and a common program to the electorate?
