Since Friday evening, next to the place where they had so often showcased their musical talents, Jacques Taddei and Brigitte Engerer, both of whom passed away in 2012, will be remembered by those who admired them.

In the rose garden of the Monastery of Cimiez, a space named Jacques Taddei, formerly the garden of Simples, featuring fountains, and an alley named Brigitte Engerer, lined with magnolias and flower beds, will bear their names.

Pianist and organist, Jacques Taddei was born in Nice in 1946 and was one of the most decorated and respected classical musicians in the art world from Nice. He was a member of the Academy of Fine Arts, director of the Marmottan-Monet Museum, and he presided over the Nice Summer International Academy from 1991 to 2012, where the greatest names in music have succeeded one another as both students and teachers since its creation in 1957.

A virtuoso pianist and remarkable interpreter, Brigitte Engerer often performed in Nice, particularly in the cloister of the Monastery of Cimiez. Dedicated to spreading her art to as many people as possible, she also fervently supported the launch of the “C’est pas classique!” festival in 2005.
