The opening of the Maison de la Métropole NCA in Paris was not well received by the opponents of the Mayor of Nice and… President of the Métropole.
In fact, if a community called to broaden the scope of its responsibilities following the territorial reorganization law wants to have a presence in the national capital, it is not a bad idea per se, nor an untimely initiative, even if Brussels, the European capital, would have been a more appropriate destination for the presence of community institutions and headquarters of multinationals.
It is better to be where you need to be, seek contacts, and promote, rather than continue exchanging pleasantries with friends at home.
As for the story of Christian Estrosi’s candidacy in the primary, with the Mayor of Nice, one must be careful as you never know if he is playing for himself or if he is playing a part assigned to him in a collective arrangement.
For now, we adhere to “vigilant support” (congratulations to those who understood its cryptic meaning).
That said, no surprise either in case of a change of scenario. In politics, you don’t need to be Machiavellian to play smart and position yourself where needed.
As for Christian Estrosi’s propensity for “personal and self-promotional” communication, why still be surprised? What’s new?
Statement by Jean-Christophe Picard, President of the PRG 06
Christian Estrosi’s media plan for November 25, 2014, went perfectly as planned…
He announced, in the morning on I
The same day, he had two full pages of promotion published in Le Figaro. A photo of the Promenade du Paillon can be seen with the title: “In Nice, change is not a slogan.” Above all, a phrase from the Mayor of Nice is highlighted: “Stroll, rest, play in the heart of the city. With these 12 hectares of greenery, I gave my word, and I kept it!” The message is clear: Christian Estrosi is an elected official who keeps his promises!
Still, the same day, he inaugurates the unnecessary Maison de la Métropole Nice Côte d’Azur, 150 m2 situated opposite the Eiffel Tower, staffed by three employees. From now on, the candidate for the UMP primary will have a temple dedicated to his glory.
As we can see, Christian Estrosi is the permanent publicity stunt! But, obviously, this endless self-promotion is entirely funded by Nice or metropolitan taxpayers.
