Jean Ferrero’s generosity allows the City of Nice to inherit 800 pieces from his collection!

Latest News

A very good piece of news was announced during yesterday’s Municipal Council meeting: thanks to the generosity of the former gallery owner, Jean Ferrero, who conducted his business for several decades on Rue du Congrès before retiring a few years ago due to age, the City of Nice will inherit an important collection of works by artists from the School of Nice.

The collection is estimated to include nearly 800 works with an approximate value of 2.5 million euros.

It has been proposed to exhibit this collection at the former Urban Planning Forum, at Place Gauthier, to facilitate visits by tourists and curious individuals. The space will most likely be renamed in honor of the donor, whose gesture deserves to be recognized with all due respect.

The resolution was passed, needless to say, unanimously.
