Jeanick Brisswalter, 55, University Professor in Sciences and Techniques of Physical and Sporting Activities, has been elected Dean of the Faculty of Sport Sciences at the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis, by the majority of the management board members, for a period of 5 years. He will officially take office on July 1st.
During his term, he will be accompanied by 3 vice-deans: Serge Colson for education, Denis Parisot for international relations, and Jean-Marie Garbarino for the promotion of programs.
Jeanick Brisswalter began his career as a researcher at the Laboratory of Physiology and Biomechanics at the National Institute of Sport, Expertise, and Performance (INSEP), where he stayed for 11 years. He then became a lecturer at the University of Poitiers and later a university professor; he joined the University of Toulon in 1999, where he led the sports ergonomics laboratory, before joining the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis in 2009, where he created and directed the Laboratory of Human Mobility, Education, Sport, Health (LAMHESS, EA 6309).
His research focuses on exercise and movement physiology, resulting in numerous publications in international scientific journals. He is also an expert for several scientific organizations at the national and international levels.
The new Dean plans to continue the work accomplished by the previous team led by Jean-Marie Garbarino. He aims for the faculty to gain full visibility in the UNS’s education and research offerings while expressing his desire for it to be more open to the professional world and the socioeconomic environment of the Southeast region.
