Jérôme Rivière calls to block the left

Statement from Deputy Jérôme Rivière

In accordance with our constitutional principles, the first round of the presidential election allows for a debate of ideas within the framework of participative democracy, during which I have chosen to express and defend the right-wing values and convictions for which I have been fighting for a very long time, and on which I was elected in June 2002 as the deputy for the 1st constituency of Alpes-Maritimes.

The exceptional turnout has reminded candidates of the need for listening and the desire for citizen participation.

I noted with satisfaction that the UMP candidate had emphasized, during the two months of the campaign, some of the themes that are at the heart of my long-standing battles.

The time for debate has passed; it is now necessary to participate in the gathering of the right-wing family to which I belong.

The time has come to take a stand against the socialist candidate, supported by her communist and Trotskyist allies, whose archaic project could definitively sink France in terms of identity, the fight against immigration, and let’s not forget about taxation with an increase in taxes…

Therefore, I urge all right-wing female and male voters who did not vote for the UMP candidate in the first round of the presidential election, to block the left by voting massively on May 6 for Nicolas Sarkozy.

The union of the entire right is necessary to prevent another five years of socialism and to enable the next government to implement the recovery and reconstruction of France.
