Joe Biden’s victory amounted to a repudiation of President Trump by millions of voters exhausted by his divisive behavior and chaotic administration.
Alongside him, Kamala (pronounced Comma-La) Harris will be the Vice President, the first woman—and the first woman of color—to hold this position. A first-generation American, of Asian descent through her mother and Caribbean through her father, aged 56, she will bring Joe Biden, 77, an asset of “youth” with the pugnacity and dynamism that helped him win in his duel against Trump. She also mobilized a portion of the electorate not necessarily inclined to vote for Biden and managed to attract voters seeking better representation at the top of power.
