Sick, but feminine. Sick, but positive. Such could have been the motto of Julie Meunier. At 29, the young woman battled for a year and a half against grade III breast cancer. 24 chemotherapies, 2 operations, 40 radiotherapy sessions…
During this difficult period, Julie lost her hair and tried several wigs. A solution that didn’t suit her: she felt like she was putting on a hat and missed the sensation of styling her hair in the morning. That’s when she had an idea: to combine a false fringe adapted for hair loss with a turban she ties around her head.
She even created seven different knots, one for each day of the week. Thanks to this trick, she felt like she was styling her hair each morning and received many compliments, with no one noticing her illness. “No hair more fun” became her mantra!
Her most precious wish: To bring back smiles to women! Encouraged by this enthusiasm, Julie created a brand called “Les Franjynes” and launched a crowdfunding campaign on ULULE , with the goal of marketing her turbans.
She even developed a children’s range called LES FRANJYNETTES (because they too are affected by this dreadful disease and should not be forgotten).
After raising 22,000 euros in 23 days, she hopes to reach 31,000 euros by Friday, December 2, to fully develop her project and create her e-commerce site in both French and English by early 2017.
An initiative with a single objective: to boost the morale of women suffering from alopecia. “Morale is essential to face treatments, which are essential for healing. I want to break the norms and bring back smiles because smiling was my secret weapon against cancer,” she explains.
But to achieve this, she needs the solidarity of as many people as possible!
JULIE, LES FRANJYNES, and LES FRANJYNETTES are counting on YOU!
