The Committee of Memory deliberated, at the request of the Promenade des Anges association and many families, on establishing the memorial on the Promenade des Anglais and not on Castle Hill as had been suggested.
For now, no exact location has been defined yet. The city of Nice plans to organize
A commemoration day will be held on July 14, 2017, during which the monument, which will include a nominative list of all the victims with their age and nationality, will be inaugurated.
A statement from the City specifies that:
Objects and documents left in memory of the victims at the Kiosque à Musique memorial site will be transferred to a dedicated room within the Nice Côte d’Azur archives service in Saint-Laurent du Var.
A human chain will be organized to place these tokens of remembrance into the vehicles that will transport them to the archive room. The details of the organization of this human chain will be communicated shortly.
Once the transfer is completed, work on study, cataloging, and inventory will be carried out in order to consider how to highlight them.
It has been notably mentioned the establishment of a social team within the CCAS mobilized to provide social support to the victims, responsible, in connection with the associations Montjoye, FENVAC, Promenade des Anges, and AFVT, for handling cases, liaising with institutional partners, and disbursing the CCAS support fund which amounts to €681,343.
This commission, which has met 7 times so far, has examined 148 cases and allocated €82,300.
