For the 4th consecutive year, from Monday, July 16 to Friday, July 27, children welcomed this summer in the municipal and associative leisure centers of the city of Nice will be able to participate in the national operation “Sauvegarde Junior” which will be launched this Monday, July 16, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Impรฉratrice Eugรฉnie Center in the presence of Lauriano Azinheirinha, Deputy for Education and Youth of the City of Nice.

sauvegarde-junior.jpg Organized by the Sea Rescuers (SNSM) and Groupama, this operation aims to raise awareness among 7 to 12-year-olds about coastal risks, developing their individual responsibility so that they can ensure their own safety through training structured around 4 educational axes:

“I know the dangers”: Becoming aware of the dangers and ensuring one’s own safety in the water;

“I know how to raise the alarm”: Being attentive to others, recognizing a risky situation, and knowing how to raise the alarm;

“I protect my skin”: Protecting one’s skin against the dangers of the sun;

“I respect nature”: Knowing, respecting, protecting the environment, and adopting exemplary behavior.

Training sessions of about an hour, both fun and educational, will be provided to children around an information stand led by a competent team. At the end of this program, the children will be awarded a diploma and a “Sauvegarde Junior” T-shirt symbolizing their commitment to respecting the safety rules they will have learned, which will accompany them throughout their lives as citizens.

Between 2009 and 2011, in Nice, more than 5,700 children have been trained on coastal and sun risks during the summer.
