Justin Nozuka composes dynamic melodies on the guitar, carried by his warm voice that brings to mind Ben Harper or Jason Mraz. His performances in the club circuit of Toronto alternate with personal recording sessions in the studio.
What strikes first about Justin Nozuka is his maturity. Songs about love, heartbreak, hope, despair, life, and death, interpreted in a stunning manner by a voice to die for, that of a singer just out of school. Nozuka’s vocal flexibility brings his songs to life; his voice penetrates and envelops their melody with the same elasticity as the greatest Rhythm & Blues and Soul singers.
It was the British label Outcaste Records (Joss Stone, KT Tunstall) that noticed the prodigy and released the album Holly (April 2008), which is a tribute to his mother who has consistently supported his musical projects. Justin Nozuka was rewarded with rave reviews and international success driven by the remarkable “Down in a Cold Dirty Well” and the single “After Tonight.” The album quickly became known to the British public, thus offering his melodies, which lie somewhere between blues, folk, and soul, to an international audience and becoming one of the best-sellers of the year in the 2008 download section.
This explosive start is unlikely to stop there: the young man is twenty years old and has his whole future ahead of him.
