From October 1 to 10, 2015, Nice will host the [European Masters Games](https://emg-nice2015.fr/). Organized under the aegis of the International Masters Games Association, an organism stemming from the International Olympic Committee, this major multi-sport competition aims to attract over 10,000 veteran and senior athletes from all over the world to the French Riviera.
After the Francophonie Games last year, Nice is once again hosting large-scale sporting events and “training” for organizing an internationally significant event that Christian Estrosi hopes to secure sooner or later, after missing the chance to host the 2018 Winter Olympics.
Returning to the EMGs, for 10 days these athletes will experience the rhythm of competitions as well as numerous scheduled festivities.
This edition, the third after Stockholm and Turin, features 29 sporting disciplines (both official and demonstration), 40 venues, and of course, the traditional village.
However, there is also an economic aspect not to be overlooked – the economic benefits, as highlighted by the deputy mayor Christian Estrosi during the launch of the organization: “The total budget of 4 million euros includes a contribution of 2 million from the city, but we estimate that the event will generate 20 million in revenue for the hotel, restaurant, and retail sectors.”
