Latest News

Thursday, June 19, 2014, starting at 6:30 PM, at the Departmental Museum of Asian Arts in Nice, the launch of the 19th edition of the Summer Evenings, the cultural event not to be missed from the General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes.

The department is preparing to transform into a gigantic open-air theater. For the 19th year, the Summer Evenings will continue the tradition of live performances by offering free, varied, and high-quality shows to the entire population of the Alpes-Maritimes, turning the squares of our towns and villages into the most beautiful stage in the world.

415 shows performed by more than 1,000 talented artists in 150 municipalities of the department will light up the summer nights of the Azurean residents from June 27 to September 28.

A program that will, as every year, highlight local artists
Musicians, singers, actors, storytellers, and dancers will perform outside their usual settings in the prestigious sites of the coastal towns, in the ancestral squares of the villages, in churches, under tents, and in community halls.

All styles will be represented by artists already known to the public and newcomers from the local art scene.

Culture everywhere and for everyone: a strong commitment from the Department
Both in terms of duration and the number of artists involved, shows offered, and spectators present, the Summer Evenings have been, since their inception in 1996, one of the key events of the summer on the French Riviera.

In total, more than 2 million spectators have attended over 5,000 shows, thanks to this initiative from the General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes.

A concert featuring the bands Beatlovs, Bario Cuba, Golden Jazz Band, clown juggler acts, and the presence of Brazilian dancers will enliven this launch.
