In the context of the contemporary art event “Les Visiteurs du Soir” organized by Botox(s), this Saturday, May 26th, from 3 PM to 8 PM at Castel Plage, Valérie Arboireau presents S’KISS, a public and interactive performance.
Valérie Arboireau, who lives and works in Nice, captures our feelings and experiences with visible joy and disarming sincerity. This Nice-based artist works without marketing studies, without resorting to artificial dreams, only through an irresistible staging of life’s happenings. Valérie focuses her performances solely around the kiss—an intimate work delving into femininity, women’s conditions, self-giving, eroticism, and desire.
Indeed, applying makeup and kissing are intimate gestures that women usually reserve for the private sphere, and performing them publicly requires true self-confidence. Kissing, this simple and almost mundane gesture, becomes unique, even a feminist act, when done openly. Believing in one’s abilities is a first step toward independence, toward self-esteem.
So rather than kissing the canvas alone in front of a passive audience, Valérie invites women from all walks of life, of all backgrounds, all ages, to come and create their own “S’Kiss.”
