The TNN Troupe and the apprentice actors of ERACM revisit La Fontaine’s Fables in a staging by Muriel Mayette-Holtz. A family and quirky show to discover in the Franciscains room.
For the holiday season, the Troupe of the Théâtre National de Nice (TNN) and the Apprentice actors of the Regional School of Actors of Cannes and Marseille (ERACM) invite the public to rediscover the famous Fables of La Fontaine. Muriel Mayette-Holtz offers an inventive interpretation where the actors embody the poet’s bestiary. The objective: to laugh at human flaws by observing animal behavior.
The characters of the fables, whether it’s the rebellious wolf or the miserly ant, reveal our imperfections. According to the director, Jean de La Fontaine humorously mocks his audience. His morals, often cruel, are an inexhaustible source of self-criticism. This show combines poetry, theater, and lightness, in an atmosphere where the verses become images and laughter meets reflection.
Celebrations under the Sign of La Fontaine
In addition to the show, several events are scheduled. The Trial of Jean de La Fontaine, on Saturday, December 28 at 11 AM, at the Franciscains square, will allow the author to be confronted with his morals through a theatrical debate. Gérard Holtz will play the role of La Fontaine, facing Maître Cécile Schwal and Muriel Mayette-Holtz. This event is free and open to everyone.
On December 31, a festive New Year’s Eve will beautifully conclude the performances. At 7:30 PM, the public can extend the experience with a special meal at the Culture Brunch restaurant. On the menu: festive dishes, animations, and party favors. The price is set at 70 euros per person, with mandatory reservation.
