On the upcoming 2nd and 3rd of July, the commune of La Gaude, with the support of the “Gaude Save” association, invites you to immerse yourself in a weekend of history and Gallo-Roman traditions at the place du Marronnier in La Gaude.
During these two days, a rich and varied program is designed for a wide audience.
After a journey back in time of over two thousand years, the public, in costume if they wish, will witness the great battles that once pitted the Ligurians against the Roman legions.
On this occasion, visitors can wander through a peaceful Gallic village, next to a camp of Roman legionnaires.
There, they will learn about combat techniques, discover ancient trades, delve into the magic of tales, and uncover the secrets of the druids…
Learning and understanding spaces: many knowledgeable partners, such as the Arles Antique Departmental Museum, the Archaeology Museum of Nice, archaeology enthusiasts (Institute of Archaeology of the Alpes Maritimes), and living history experts (AHVAE, LEG VI FERATTA, ACL ARENA), genealogists (Genealogy Association of the Alpes Maritimes), numismatists, and lecturers will enlighten us about this civilization at the Coupole through meetings, presentations, an exhibition, and conferences.
Moments for historical remembrance: with a ceremony in front of the fully restored Roman sarcophagus for the occasion and guided walks along the paths leading to some Roman remains.
Spaces to experience and share history: there will be room for interactivity with the public through combat demonstrations, actor performances in costumes, and an astonishing fashion show of antiquity clothing presented by Christiane Casanova, an archaeological stylist.
Spaces for youth: ample space will be dedicated to education and children through activities, games about Roman culture, entertainment, and educational DVD screenings…
Spaces for conviviality: Celtic rhythms and the delights of Gallic and Roman gastronomy will awaken your senses.
