La Strada, a free cultural newspaper from the Cรดte d’Azur, is threatened by the French Customs’ erroneous application of advertising leaflet taxation. This free cultural news publication covers the Alpes-Maritimes and the East of the Var, with 40,000 copies published across 21 issues annually (Source: OJD).
Nice-Premium wishes to express its solidarity to our colleagues on this occasion, assuring them of our full support.
Unjustly subjected to an eco-tax reserved for leaflets and advertising documents, La Strada, as a press title, refused to pay. As a result, it was hit with the TGAP (general tax on polluting activities) by the Ministry of Budget through Customs.
This exorbitant taxation endangers La Strada, established in 1999, even though the Joint Commission provides an exception for cultural and sports information media in such cases.
Therefore, La Strada has taken legal action against Customs, with a court date set for March 30th.
