Labor Exchange – Golden Eagle: The Administrative Court rejects the CGT. Green light for the rehabilitation plan?

Latest News

The Administrative Court of Nice has just rejected the CGT’s request to annul resolution 45.2 of the City Council of June 25, 2012, concerning the renovation and development of municipal buildings located at Saint-François square.

The court determined that the rehabilitation of the Aigle d’Or buildings was indeed in the public interest and that the City Council was competent to alter the allocation of a building for reasons of good administration or public order needs.

The judge also confirmed that the resolutions of October 20, 1892, and April 12, 1954, which assigned the premises to the Labor Exchange, did not create any right for the trade unions to remain in the premises, specifying that the CGT did not hold an occupancy title for these premises.

With this court decision made, the rehabilitation of the Aigle d’Or, part of the overall rehabilitation program of the municipal heritage, could finally begin, and there is no doubt that everyone will be very attentive to what is planned in this setting.

An upcoming announcement for the Mayor of Nice?

Christian Estrosi, Deputy, Mayor of Nice, President of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, commented on this judgment: “I am delighted with the judgment rendered by the Administrative Court of Nice, which ruled on the merits and upheld all the arguments of the City of Nice. This court decision represents a significant step forward towards the rehabilitation of the Aigle d’Or, which is part of the overall rehabilitation program of the municipal heritage.”
