Land of Light and the Consular Palace of the Nice Côte d’Azur Chamber of Commerce nominated for the Atalante Trophies

To make a film, a shooting location is obviously necessary. Film France and MuseumExperts created the Atalante Trophies to reward the best partnerships between film and television crews and shooting locations. Among the nominees on television, we find the series “Terre de Lumière,” aired during the summer on France 2. The Consular Palace of the Nice CCI hosted the teams of this saga, filmed in four episodes, featuring Mélanie Maudran (from “Sous le Soleil”). Directed by Stephen Kurk, the series crew came to shoot some scenes in Nice, at the end of May 2008. Normally, the Consular Palace is not intended to be open for such events. However, this shooting followed others like “Taxi” or “Transporter.” The Chamber of Commerce and Industry, through its proactive approach, aims to set an example for other public structures.

Welcome to the Sticks Nominated

Other partnerships between French cities and television series crews are obviously competing with Nice and “Terre de Lumière.” “Merlin” at Château de Pierrefonds, “Le 7ème juré” by Edouard Niermans (France 2) with Strasbourg, and “La main blanche” by Denis Berry (TF1) with Guérande are examples.

However, the big names are found in the cinema category. “Welcome to the Sticks” by Dany Boon, the biggest French success with 20 million tickets sold, brought significant fame to the city of Bergues (North). “Vilaine” by Jean-Patrick Benes and Allan Mauduit, featuring Marilou Berry and Frédérique Bel, released on November 12, was filmed in the small town of Ribérac, in Dordogne. The Petit Palais Museum of Fine Arts in Paris hosted the greatest French actors in “Musée haut, musée bas” by Jean-Michel Ribes. The city of Sète saw the team of “La graine et le mulet,” by Abdellatif Kechiche, set up there.

Among these nominees, the jury will choose two winners, in the television and cinema categories, whose identities will be announced on January 27, 2009, at the SIME-SITEM event at the Carrousel du Louvre.
