This Sunday, on the occasion of the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia (IDAHOT), which commemorates the removal of homosexuality from the list of mental illnesses by the WHO (World Health Organization) on May 17, 1990, the LGBT Center Cรดte d’Azur is taking action and invites people to leave a message on the wall of respect, set up for the occasion at Garibaldi Square. The event will take place at noon.
Those present will also be able to watch live the creation of a graffiti piece by visual artist Patrick Moya and the installation of a large “rainbow flag.”
Throughout the weekend, the LGBT Center Cรดte d’Azur and its member associations are offering a program of actions, gatherings, meetings, and exchanges.
77 countries around the world condemn homosexuality with imprisonment, penal labor, or torture. 11 of them punish it by the death penalty.
At a time when homophobia, transphobia, and mistrust of others continue to take root in France as well, it is collectively important to remain more mobilized than ever.
