On the occasion of European Sustainable Development Week, the Fnac group is launching a major national collection, “Give Your Books a Second Life”.
For the eighth consecutive year, Fnac is organizing a large national collection, in partnership with the association Libraries Without Borders. From September 18 to October 8, various collection points are set up in the 180 Fnac stores across France. Each volunteer can drop off one or more books, in good condition, in the bins provided. In seven years, more than a million books have been collected thanks to this initiative.
A collection to supply libraries
Detective novels, romance novels, comics, fantasy… All types of books are welcome in this collection. This action, in favor of the association Libraries Without Borders, allows to “give books a second life” by supplying libraries that serve disadvantaged populations around the world, and also in France, explains the Fnac group. Once collected, the books will be sorted by the members of the association “to best meet the needs and expectations of local populations”, highlights the group, Libraries Without Borders, on their website.
Libraries Without Borders, promoting access to information, education, and culture
The association, founded in 2007 in Paris, aims to provide free access to culture, education, and information to people deprived of it. Numerous actions are implemented worldwide, such as the launch of the BSF THEMA platform, a large activity library that provides access to 700 activity sheets.
