Last children’s municipal council meeting before the summer holidays

Latest News

Upon his election, Christian Estrosi sought to provide Nice with a new consultative body in order to refine its city policy in favor of youth and involve children in the life of their city from a young age.

The Children’s Municipal Council aims to promote dialogue between city leaders and its young population, and to make today’s schoolchildren the citizens of tomorrow. The 68 students, elected by their peers in December 2008, will serve their term as municipal councilors for two years.

During this third and final plenary session, the representatives of the four commissions formed during the creation of the municipal council will present the work carried out in each commission:

My Environment, My City (environment, city planning, and urban planning)

– Creation of a recreational trail in one of the departmental natural parks located in the municipality of Nice.

Health and Solidarity (school life, citizenship, and disability)

– Development of a brochure aimed at raising awareness about first aid in elementary schools and leisure centers.

Leisure Time (sports, culture, entertainment, and leisure)

– Children’s participation in the Carnival.

Living in the City (safety, transportation, mobility)

– Creation of a booklet on prevention and road safety.

As the term of our young municipal councilors is coming to an end, this day will be the occasion to present each of them with a diploma of civic engagement.
