The Departmentโs Hรดtel received the medical community of the Azure region this Friday for the launch of the 11th edition Call for Health Projects. The event was presided over by Charles Ange Ginรฉsy, President of the Department, and Professor Alain Livartowski, Chairman of the jury.
“A powerful engine in the Department,” stated Charles Ange Ginรฉsy to describe the Call for Health Projects. The goal is to promote research in the health field to encourage the development of innovative projects by researchers, doctors, and associations from the Alpes-Maritimes.
Professor Alain Livartowski announced the selection criteria for the projects presented: “This year in our selection, we will consider three points: if the project is beneficial to the patient, if it is safe, and finally if it is easy to use. We will also examine the economic model behind the project to determine its viability and whether the projects are useful for doctors and caregivers.“
The 11th edition includes different themes that the members are committed to advancing:
- The screening and treatment of cancer,
- The treatment of neurodegenerative diseases and disabilities
- E-health and new technologies
- The impact of the environment on health
- Artificial intelligence

Artificial Intelligence
This new theme is envisioned as the medicine of tomorrow and is at the heart of the medical industry and research. To date, researchers are working to implement the uses of artificial intelligence, for example, through the possibility of assisted surgeries, remote patient monitoring, intelligent prosthesis design, health diagnosis prediction, and personalized treatment through data cross-referencing. It is in collaboration with SMART DEAL that the Department encourages the development and application of artificial intelligence.
A conference titled “Crossed Perspectives on the Ethical and Strategic Challenges of Artificial Intelligence“, hosted by Marco Landi, former president of Apple and President of the Smart DEAL expert committee, and Laurence Vanin, Doctor in political philosophy and epistemology, further explored the theme of Artificial Intelligence as an innovative field in this 11th edition.
Finally, for the new edition, the Department has invested a budget of 1.5 million euros. “Today we are here with the Azure medical community, which is the pride of our Department, notably due to its faculty of medicine and its University Hospital Center. Our commitment and responsibility in this field allow us to contribute to advancing the management of these pathologies, and it is in this spirit that we launch this 11th edition,” concluded Deputy Eric Ciotti.
