Now it’s time for the 4th edition of “Dancing with Seniors,” which I officially declare open. It is with this phrase that the President of the Alpes-Maritimes Department, Eric CIOTTI, launched this large departmental competition at the Palais des Rois Sardes.
More than just entertainment, this moment of joy and sharing contributes to the “healthy aging” of seniors.
The increase in life expectancy presents a tremendous opportunity and a challenge to be met. This challenge is that of healthy aging, which requires supporting the elderly as closely as possible to their needs and expectations.
From this Monday, April 24, until October 15, seniors who love dance from the Alpes-Maritimes department can register to participate in this competition entirely dedicated to them. Organized since 2014, this event allows seniors to engage in a sporting activity and also to entertain themselves.
The competition is open to dance enthusiasts over the age of 55, either as a couple or individually, and they will be judged on different dances: the tango, paso doble, and waltz as a couple, and madison, cha-cha-cha, twist, bachata, and kuduro individually, along four criteria: tempo, artistic demonstration, technique, and overall presentation.
Since 2012, the Alpes-Maritimes department has been committed to ensuring the well-being of seniors, their health, their participation in social life, and their daily fulfillment by deploying the “Seniors in Action” program.
“We will remain fully mobilized alongside seniors, who embody this essential intergenerational link for our country and our department.” Emphasized Eric CIOTTI, the President of the Alpes-Maritimes Department.
Over 16,000 seniors have already registered. The first qualifying rounds will begin in June.
The finalists of this major event will perform in front of the public on Sunday, January 14, 2018, and will be judged by a panel of experts.
