As the work comes to an end in the National Assembly and begins in the Senate, 27 organizations speak out!
Medically assisted procreation has existed in France since 1982. It is currently authorized for infertile married heterosexual couples and infertile heterosexual couples who can prove that they live together. It is forbidden for single women and female couples, married or not. There is currently discrimination and a breach of equality between women regarding family planning.
Opening MAP (Medically Assisted Procreation) to all women is therefore a measure of freedom and equal rights. It gives those who wish the choice to access reproductive techniques and start a family.
The signatory associations demand:
– Access to MAP for everyone. All individuals of reproductive age should be able to access MAP with a donor, without distinction of their marital status, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
– The recognition of common-law parentage for all couples using MAP.
– Non-discriminatory reimbursement. Lesbians and single women are citizens like everyone else and pay their contributions. Medical acts related to MAP should be reimbursed at 100%, as they are for heterosexual couples.
