Launch of the extension works for Carrefour Lingostière

Last night marked the laying of the foundation stone for the extension of the Carrefour Nice Lingostière shopping center. Inauguration planned for 2020.

Alongside the mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, the CEO of Carmila, Jacques Ehrmann, and the teams from Carmila, Carrefour Property, and Carrefour, officially launched the construction of the shopping center located on Boulevard du Mercantour.

Opened in 1978 and renovated in 2014, the Nice Lingostière shopping center represents the third-largest Carrefour hypermarket in France with its 5.5 million visitors per year. Located within the Éco-vallée perimeter, this shopping center is a major socio-economic player in the commercial activity area. “It was necessary to renew it, and as often as possible. We thought it was more virtuous to expand it, rather than multiplying new projects,” explains Jacques Ehrmann, CEO of Carmila.

“We are at the epicenter of the Nice Côte d’Azur metropolis. Its challenges fully integrate with those of the territory,” assures Christian Estrosi. “Capitalizing on existing potential while adopting a comprehensive and innovative strategy to sustainably boost all sectors of activity.”

Designed in collaboration with all local stakeholders, this project aims to make the historic Carrefour Nice Lingostière center a true hub for the entrance to the agglomeration. The center will expand from 50 stores over 8,000m2 to 100 stores with a total area of 20,000 m2 by 2020. Carrefour Property and Carmila will finance the project to the tune of 70 million euros. It is estimated that 400 jobs will be created within the new shops, in addition to the current 1000 jobs on site. The architecture is designed by Jean Marc Wilmotte, the designer of the Allianz Riviera Stadium and the future Ikea.

The center will feature a visible and rhythmic facade from the roadways. An architectural project in harmony with the Nice environment. An extension of a bright and pleasant gallery, along with a renovated existing gallery. A new more comfortable, shaded silo parking, close to shops and equipped with a space guidance system. Respect for environmental standards and preservation of biodiversity with the planting of over 350 trees, contributing to a total of 17,300 m2 of green spaces.
