Aging well requires preparation and maintenance. A pilot city in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease, Nice has set up memory workshops for the senior citizens of Nice since 2009.
This program is free and available to seniors in Nice aged 65 and over, and is implemented at 4 different sites to stimulate memory, delay the onset of Alzheimer’s disease, or prevent its worsening.
The content of these Memory Workshops employs techniques and exercises aimed at stimulating the entire cognitive sphere. They also help reassure participants about minor everyday cognitive difficulties, promote socialization, and reactivate self-esteem.
Three levels of work are organized over 20 sessions for groups of 10 to 15 people. These workshops are designed and led by neuropsychologists from the Health and Autonomy Directorate of the City of Nice.
Since the creation of these memory workshops, more than 600 senior citizens of Nice have been able to benefit from this program free of charge.
