Because a successful project is a shared project, starting this Monday 22nd, the residents of Vernier, Trachel, Notre-Dame, and Thiers can discover the embellishment projects for their neighborhood and give their opinion.

pnrquad.jpg The Mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, has initiated an ambitious urban enhancement policy in all neighborhoods of Nice so that residents can enjoy a pleasant environment and a better quality of life every day.

The PNRQAD of Nice mainly aims to address substandard housing and combat energy poverty, bring vacant housing back to the market, restructure local businesses and public spaces, develop the offering of equipment and services, and requalify local public spaces.

The first reaction came from Gaรซl Nofri, the FN Marinist from Nice.

Pretending, that is indeed their only talent!

The boundless taste for communication of the current City Hall has unexpected effects. We already knew that it was ruining the finances of the municipality, and now we discover that it leads to the promotion of a tragic failure!

This failure is the necessary rescue of the Heart of Nice, victim of insecurity, pauperization, filth, and immigration. The issue is fundamental because the immediate threats hanging over this central district of Nice could have serious and irreparable consequences on the future of our city, its economy, and its attractiveness. Therefore, it was necessary to provide real solutions. However, once again, the City Hall seems to respond only with a communication plan intended to hide old recipes that have already proven ineffective; recipes that will lead straight to the ghettoization of Downtown.

More social housing, this is the miracle solution imposed by the Municipality and its infamously renowned Deputy for Housing, in disregard of the wishes and expectations of the neighborhood. Ultimately, it is the little Swiss Street, effectively made impassable on Fridays by street prayers, that will be “pedestrianized and beautified for pedestrians and cyclists”โ€ฆ It’s unbelievable! But didn’t Cocteau say: ‘These things are beyond us, let us pretend to be their organizers!’

Indeed, since the crisis of Downtown Nice seems to be beyond them, our elected officials have decided to accompany it, pretending to implement the comprehensive vision they lack. Unfortunately, to put an end to the pauperization of downtown, to make it a place that is both safer and cleaner, to recreate the conditions for economic dynamism and harmonious living, and finally to ensure that the requalification operations undertaken in the sector are not millions thrown out the window, a genuine urban plan for Downtown should be conceived, breaking away from the failures of the past and no longer confusing communication with realization.

Yes, indeed, there is an urgent need to stop pretending!
