Launch of the subscription for the church square restoration project in Biot.

To assist with the “Restoration of the Church Square in Biot,” the town of Biot, in collaboration with the Heritage Foundation, is launching a subscription allowing donors to benefit from tax advantages.

The goal is to restore the existing paving by recreating the patterns as closely as possible to their original form and, to further enhance the square, to remove the utility networks from the faรงades of neighboring buildings.

A bit of history

The Church Square is located in the historical heart of the village of Biot and serves as the forecourt for the church of St. Mary Magdalene, which was classified as a historical monument in 1984. This square is an important fragment of the cultural and historical heritage of the commune.

It is characterized by a pavement of calade made from colored flat pebbles, laid on edge, with patterns that reflect the village’s history. Today, the square’s surface is particularly deformed and degraded, making pedestrian movement uncomfortable and challenging for individuals with reduced mobility.
