On Wednesday, January 10, the inauguration of the initiative involving senior citizens from Nice alongside young students monitored by the CDDF took place.
The Council for Family Rights and Duties aims to support families and their children, young minors and adults facing academic difficulties (truancy, school dropout, behavioral issues…). The CDDF team, in collaboration with the National Education and other partners (Public Prosecutor, Nice CCAS, municipal police…), listens to them and proposes an action plan to help them regain self-confidence and better succeed in their educational journey.
The initiative was further strengthened during the municipal council meeting on November 7, 2023. Academic support and homework assistance provided by senior volunteers registered with the municipal office of seniors are among the new measures designed to support the parents and young residents of Nice monitored by the CDDF team.
Support Already in Place
In the Fuon-Cauda neighborhood, for instance, a dedicated and passionate team of ten volunteers has been offering academic support for several years to about twenty primary school children from CP to CM2 who face scholastic, social, or family difficulties. Similarly, the association รpilogue, based in Nice East, provides valuable homework assistance in addition to its mediation and animation center for young students in need.
Beyond merely assisting the children, most of these associations aim to instill maximum confidence in these young individuals who are sometimes neglected at home. Through a pedagogical and friendly approach, the volunteers build a relationship of trust with them and their families, addressing homework differently and reinforcing their skills for a true step towards academic success.
