Nice Premium: Lauriano Azinheirinha, how did you approach your first candidacy under the banner of Nice Ensemble?
Lauriano Azinheirinha: It is a great pride for me to have been part of the city team led by Christian ESTROSI for a year and a half, participating alongside men and women of great quality in the projects of this city that I love so much. It’s also a sense of duty following the trust shown in me by the Mayor of Nice and Eric CIOTTI, the President of the General Council, in proposing me as the candidate of the municipal and departmental majority. But beyond the endorsements (UMP, Nouveau Centre), I will be the candidate for all the people of the 6th district. Those who know me are aware that I am primarily a man of dialogue before being a party man.
NP: The campaign will take place over the summer; is this more of an advantage or a disadvantage?
LA: I don’t believe that the people of Nice can afford to take 2 months off for vacation. I meet residents of this district every day who are available for dialogue. I will meet with each of them up until the last day: electoral campaigns are very enriching periods where connections are made, and you meet exceptional men and women who talk about their neighborhoods, their lives, their struggles, part of their stories, quite simply. I have always loved these moments. If they place their trust in me, I will extend these moments by visiting a neighborhood in the district every week.
NP: How would you describe the 6th district of Nice?
LA: I particularly appreciate the โvillageโ spirit of these neighborhoods. You can find this atmosphere at the Borriglione merchants or at the Raiberti hall, at Saint Lambert with its dynamic Neighborhood Committee President, Pierre LAHITETE, on the hill of Cimiez and its cultural excellence, or even in Pasteur where I recently met mothers over a โsharing coffeeโ. The urban renewal of Pasteur, the upcoming arrival of the tramway, and the construction of the Pasteur Hospital 2, all these projects launched by our municipality are an opportunity for the residents of this neighborhood.
NP: Your deputy, Muriel Marland-Militello, is none other than a Deputy. Isnโt that unusual for a deputy position?
LA: I was very touched that she agreed to be my deputy for this election. She very spontaneously offered to join this fight by my side. It’s a strong sign of the unity of our municipal majority. It’s also a trait of her character: committed and spontaneous. I salute her attitude that honors politics. Together we form a great team. Having the support of the constituency’s Deputy, the Mayor of her city, and the outgoing General Council, Jean-Pierre MANGIAPAN who see me as a โman of heart,โ is quite encouraging!
NP: What would you say to the inhabitants of this district to convince them that your candidacy is indeed the best?
LA: Appreciating my candidacy is getting to know me better. To find solutions to everyday problems, I believe it requires combining several qualities: being constantly attentive to others, having convictions based on values, and demonstrating responsiveness and efficiency. I have been managing the Office of Deputy Rudy SALLES (whom I appreciate for his humanism and complete dedication to his city) for nearly 10 years, and alongside him, I am faced daily with the difficulties of the cityโs residents. For a year and a half, in my role as Deputy Mayor (in charge of Education, Youth, Entertainment, and Leisure), the educational community of our city has found in me an official who is very present on the ground, attentive to teachers and parents and working tirelessly for the safety and well-being of our 28,000 schoolchildren. I wish to use this experience and knowledge of state, departmental, and city services for the benefit of the residents of the 6th district. The stake of this election is the useful and effective vote.
