“Le Goût de Nice showcases the local olive.”

Latest News

Since its creation in 2017 at the initiative of the city’s Mayor Christian Estrosi, Le Goût de Nice has showcased the products and craftsmanship of the metropolitan region.

On Saturday, June 18th, local olive growing will be highlighted, specifically the “cailletier,” more commonly known as the Olive of Nice.

This variety originates from the Alpes-Maritimes, producing medium-sized olives with flavorful pulp. This tree is also self-fertile and is one of the best varieties for natural olives. It also allows for the production of a smooth and fruity oil and is also made into olive paste, which, unlike tapenade, takes the form of an original, natural product without additives that preserves the characteristics of raw olive.

On the program for the olive festival:

– Discovery of the PDO Olive of Nice with the interprofessional union of the Olive of Nice.
– Tasting
– Musical entertainment
– Raffle with a chance to win baskets of oleic products from the metropolitan region
– Culinary workshops with olive grower Henri Derepas, who has been awarded numerous times for his high-quality products in national and international competitions.

The celebrations will take place at the Le Goût de Nice store at 34 boulevard Jean Jaurès from 10 AM to 1 PM.
