Christian Estrosi, in the presence of Bernard Gonzalez, prefect of the Alpes-Maritimes, and Jean Pierre Rivรจre, president of OGCN, the historic tenant of the site, came to inaugurate the Ray Park.

The guest of honor was former President Nicolas Sarkozy, who expressed his attachment and admiration for the Bay of Angels, saying, “a man like me who travels so much can tell you that you have nothing to be ashamed of in Nice.”

The new municipal candidate Christian Estrosi couldn’t have hoped for a better compliment, which seems like an “endorsement”! In a right-leaning city where Nicolas Sarkozy always achieved his best electoral scores, what could be better?

The three-hectare park includes a waterfall, which was put into operation during the inauguration, a football playground, climbing and rope games, as well as a central walkway. The whole area will be closed at night and monitored during the day.

The works cost nearly 8.7 million euros.

The neighborhood has not forgotten its sporting past. To maintain this identity, the Rotonde hosts meetings for OGC Nice supporters and the South Tribune has been integrated into the park. A dojo and a fencing hall will be established as part of a real estate project with around 300 apartments by 2023.

The expansion of the Ray-Gorbella school and the creation of an early childhood and family center is a project whose construction will begin at the end of 2020 for a scheduled delivery in 2023. With four additional classrooms, a toy library, and restructured facilities, the estimated cost amounts to 15.3 million euros.
