Elections pass, political positions remain, divisions deepen
For the Republicans, the double defeat in the presidential and legislative elections has left… deep traces.
A political class partially or largely (depending on the point of view) swept away, ambitions brought to the ground, two lines oppose each other: a right-wing opposition without concession, and a constructive opposition.
Two distinct parliamentary groups will represent them. The Constructive Republicans (UDI and independents) will comprise around forty deputies, including 20 former members of the Republican party and 18 UDI.
Among the 6 Republican deputies of Alpes-Maritimes, only one elected official will be part of the constructives: Marine Brenier, 30 years old, re-elected this Sunday in Nice’s 5th constituency.
Protégé of Christian Estrosi, she could only follow the political line of her mentor, who calls for breaking away from the usual pattern: government-opposition.
Does this mean they will be well-disposed towards the government? The constructives do not say so, but they are against systematic opposition.
@marinebrenier: Back to the National Assembly! Aware of the results expected by the French, I am determined to contribute to the country’s recovery!
This option does not fit into the thinking category of Eric Ciotti, who with the other departmental elected officials Bernard Brochand, Eric Pauget, Michèle Tabarot, and Martine Trastour, remains in the camp of the orthodox.
@ECiotti: The choice of the name “constructives” is just communication, it’s more like the group of opportunists without conviction
The artillery is out… there will be some atmosphere!
